Let’s do a playlist. Everyone’s favorite thing to do, whether it was a cassette tape with recorded parts of radio shows, a great burned CD with your favorite hits, or, in today’s form, a Spotify playlist. I’ll do my best to provide a new music newsletter each weekend, featuring some great tracks from the previous week to create an almost endless stream of sounds full of memories.
We’ll kick it off with a banger. Gaga is turning all of you sinners into believers with her comeback single “Disease.” Sure, we’ve had plenty of music from her not only in the last few years but this year alone—nothing like “Disease,” though. It’s Gaga with her signature dirty, heavy, and dark sound with great vocal moments. Probably her best lead single since “Born This Way.”
To continue down the gritty road, Halsey just dropped her brand new album The Great Impersonator. Although we heard the Amy Lee-inspired “Lonely Is The Muse” before, it definitely deserves to be on the list. One of the album's highlights is perfectly followed by a very different track, “Arsonist,” which is another amazing song you need to hear this week.
Vancouver rapper bbno$ released a catchy acoustic breakup song called “meant to be.” The future It girl Addison Rae is following the success of “Diet Pepsi” with the lustful “Aquamarine,” and we’ll close this edition with yeule’s “eko,” a nice mix of electro and ambient pop—all three very worthy of your attention.
